Good morning,

Milan is slowly moving into spring mode.
Cafes are getting louder, more events are popping up, and people are finally staying outside after work again. Here are the things happening in the city this week that are actually worth your time.

PS: As you live your best social life, maybe avoid public transportation - or at least trams (more on the tragic tram saga below)

100 Photos to inherit the world
If you’re into photography (or just love a good museum afternoon), this exhibition at MUDEC might be worth checking out. It brings together 100 iconic photographs that trace almost 200 years of photography - from some of the very first experiments like daguerreotypes all the way to contemporary photographers. The exhibition walks you through how photography has evolved over time and how certain images ended up shaping the way we see the world today.
Where: St. Tortona, 56, 20144 Milano - Mudec - Sala DEFG
When: From 12 March - 28 June

Leonor Fini In scena
If you enjoy art with a bit of theatre and imagination, this exhibition is a lovely one to check out. It focuses on Leonor Fini’s sketches and studies for stage productions, created between the late 1940s and the 1960s. You’ll see how her fantastical characters, costumes, and stage worlds first came to life on paper before appearing on stage. It’s a glimpse into the creative process of an artist who worked closely with some of Europe’s major theatres.
Where: Milano  Corso Italia 47
When: February 26 - March 28

Exhibition. Davide Sartori. Giovane Fotografia Italiana | Premio Luigi Ghirri.
This photography exhibition explores the complicated relationship between a son and his father. Through portraits, staged moments, and archival materials, Davide Sartori uses photography to reflect on memory, emotional distance, and the desire for connection. It’s a very personal project that touches on vulnerability, family dynamics, and how our relationships shape the way we remember things. The work also received the Giovane Fotografia Italiana | Luigi Ghirri Award, supporting emerging photographers in Italy.
Where: Fondazione La Triennale di Milano
When: Until March 22 2026
Free admission

What's happening in the city:

Transport and mobility
  • A tram on line 27 in Milan caught fire on Via Marco Bruto around 9:00 a.m. after a high-voltage cable fell onto its roof, causing smoke and flames. Just a few weeks ago another tram went off the track killing two people and leaving more injured. Don’t know about you, I’ll be going on foot for now.

  • Air travel strikes on 18 March (Malpensa + easyJet nationwide). The national strike list maintained by Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti shows a 24-hour strike by ALHA personnel at Milano Malpensa Airport (00:00–23:59) and (b) a 4- hour strike of easyJet cabin crew between 13:00–17:00.
If you have flights to/from Malpensa or are flying easyJet that day, do not assume your original schedule will hold.
